Are you someone who, after seeing a photo of a dramatic mountain scene, would fly across the ocean to see the view for yourself? Would you order a delicious-looking dish at one of the local restaurants without recognizing any of the ingredients? If you have that kind of adventurous soul, then we have a wine for you.
Les Crêtes Vin de la Sabla will transport you to a little-known wine region in Northern Italy called Valle d'Aosta. Nestled in the heart of the Alps, with France and Switzerland as its neighbours, it is surrounded by some of Europe’s tallest mountains including Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. And, although Italian wine outsells imported wine from any other country, this region is so obscure that Canadians seldom see its name on menus at Italian restaurants, or above the shelves in wine shops.
Simply called ‘Vino Rosso’, La Sabla is a red blend with an undeniable complexity and a unique personality. On the nose it is fruity and delicate, bursting with aromas of black cherry, and a hint of spice. On the palate it is rich and concentrated, yet soft and subtle. Made from a blend of native grapes local to this mountainous region, it tastes as stunning as its terroir.
Now you don’t have to fly to Italy and drive deep into the Alps to experience this remarkable wine. It is currently available at Bossanova on Roncy.
