If you haven’t yet found your go-to Gewürztraminer, we recommend you give this Italian beauty a try. It is made by the Wilhelm Walch winery located in the traditional wine village of Tramin in Alto Adige where 96% of the population is German speaking. Not only is Tramin part of the northernmost Italian wine-producing region, it is also the namesake for it’s most famous grape: Gewürztraminer.
The producers of this wine, the Walch family, founded their winery in 1869. Throughout the years, the Walch family have been instrumental in shaping the Alto Adige wine culture. In their vineyard, they practice sustainable viticulture and gently harvest their grapes by hand to produce clean and varietally true wines.
This Gewürztraminer is an example of how natural farming methods can bring out the best in a grape. In the glass, this dry, full-bodied wine is a light golden yellow. On the palate it features the pronounced spicy and aromatic notes for which Gewürztraminer is known. The ripe fruits and spice are balanced with perceptible acidity. The wine finishes long and fresh.
